Apple Crisp

Throughout history, food historians have put apple crisp recipes or those similar in the 19th century. People that wrote these cookbooks claimed them to be fast family meals that were not intended for holiday celebrations or for visitors. Recipes such as Apple Crisp have been found in various names whereas the name we know today was not around until the 20th century.

Over time, many people have added different ingredients like breadcrumbs, cream and such as well as renaming this famous dessert.

Apple Crisp Recipe

  • 2 medium sized apples
  • 1 heaping tablespoon flour
  • 1 heaping tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • a pinch of salt
  • 2 to 4 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon butter or margarine, cut into tiny pieces

Take the apples, peel them, and remove the core. Now, slice the apples. You can then place the slices right on the toaster oven tray. Blend the next four ingredients (flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt) and sprinkle over the slices. Take the water and dab it all over the apples. If you are using drier than normal apples, use a bit more water. Take the butter and add a piece here and there, spacing it out to cover all of it pretty uniformly. Place inside your toaster oven and bake for 30 minutes at 375 degrees Fahrenheit until done.
