Applesauce Jumbles with Browned Butter Glaze

Makes approximately 5 dozen.

2 3/4 C. flour
1 1/2 C. firmly packed light brown sugar
1 tea. salt
1/2 tea. baking soda
3/4 C. applesauce
1/2 C. vegetable shortening
2 eggs
1 tea. ground cinnamon
1 tea. vanilla extract or flavoring
1/4 tea. ground cloves
1 C. seedless raisins
1 C. nuts, chopped

Mix together all ingredients. If dough is soft, cover and refrigerate until a little firmer.

Drop dough by rounded tea.ful about 2 in. apart on unprepared cookie sheet. Bake in preheated 375 degree F oven until almost no indentation remains when touched - about 10 min.

Immediately remove from cookie sheet; cool and spread with Browned Butter Glaze.

Browned Butter Glaze
1/3 C. butter
2 C. powderedsugar
1 1/2 tea. vanilla extract
2 to 4 Tbsp. hot water

Heat butter over low heat until golden brown. Remove from heat; stir in powderedsugar and vanilla extract or flavoring. Beat in 2 to 4 Tbsp. hot water until smooth and of desired consistency.
