Chocolate Chip Caramel Cookies

1/2 C. unsalted butter
1/2 C. brown sugar
3/4 C. sugar
1 lrg. egg, beaten
2 Tbsp. heavy cream
1 1/2 C. flour
1/4 tea. salt
1/2 C. semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 C. slivered almonds
12 caramels, cut in half flatways
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Lightly grease and flour a cookie sheet.
In a lrg. bowl, cream butter with both sugars until light and fluffy. Add egg and continue beating 1 min. Beat in cream.
Combine dry ingredients and add to batter, beating at low speed. Mix in chocolate chips, almonds, and caramels. Drop sm. spoonfuls of batter onto cookie sheet and bake 8 min. When done, carefully transfer cookies to wire rack and let cool.
