Holiday Billy Goats

1 C. butter or butter substitute
1 1/2 C. sugar
3 egg yolks
1 tea. vanilla extract
2 1/2 C. flour
1 tea. baking soda
1/8 tea. salt
1 tea. cinnamon
1/4 tea. ground cloves
2 Tbsp. buttermilk
4 C. nuts, chopped
1 lb. dates, chopped

Cream together the butter or butter substitute and sugar until fluffy. Add the egg yolks and vanilla extract and heat well for about 2 min.

Sift together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and cloves and add to the mixture. Add the milk and stir well. Now fold in the nuts and dates.

Drop by the tea.ful onto a cookie sheet.

Bake at 325 degrees F for about 20 min.

Yield: Makes about 7 dozen.
